A quick and healthy homemade version of Greek chicken gyros—featuring marinated chicken, creamy tzatziki, and fresh veggies wrapped in warm pita.

Ingredients

  • lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts

  • ¾ cup Greek yogurt (for marinade)

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 46 Greek-style pitas

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cucumber, sliced

  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced

  • Romaine lettuce, chopped

  • Optional: feta cheese, olives

Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • ½ English cucumber, grated and squeezed dry

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill

  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Whisk together marinade ingredients and coat chicken. Chill for 30 minutes to 4 hours.

  • Prepare tzatziki by combining all ingredients and refrigerate until needed.

  • Cook chicken on a grill or skillet until golden and cooked through. Let rest, then slice.

  • Warm pita bread.

  • Assemble gyros by layering tzatziki, chicken, and toppings on each pita.

  • Serve immediately while warm.
