PrintA quick and healthy homemade version of Greek chicken gyros—featuring marinated chicken, creamy tzatziki, and fresh veggies wrapped in warm pita.
1½ lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
¾ cup Greek yogurt (for marinade)
Juice of 1 lemon
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dried oregano
½ tsp paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
4–6 Greek-style pitas
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cucumber, sliced
½ red onion, thinly sliced
Romaine lettuce, chopped
Optional: feta cheese, olives
Tzatziki Sauce:
1 cup Greek yogurt
½ English cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
Salt to taste
Whisk together marinade ingredients and coat chicken. Chill for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
Prepare tzatziki by combining all ingredients and refrigerate until needed.
Cook chicken on a grill or skillet until golden and cooked through. Let rest, then slice.
Warm pita bread.
Assemble gyros by layering tzatziki, chicken, and toppings on each pita.
Serve immediately while warm.
