2 apples, peeled and diced
1 tbsp butter (for sautéing apples)
2 tbsp brown sugar (for apples)
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
2 eggs
⅓ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
¾ cup milk
¼ cup melted butter
1½ tsp vanilla extract
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
Cook diced apples in butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until tender. Let cool.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In another bowl, whisk eggs, both sugars, milk, butter, and vanilla.
Stir wet into dry, then fold in cooked apples.
Heat and grease waffle iron. Cook batter for 3–5 minutes or until golden.
Cool slightly on a rack.
Mix glaze ingredients until smooth. Dip or drizzle onto donuts.
Let glaze set before serving.
